Review: Heaven and Hell

Heaven and Hell
Heaven and Hell by Kristen Ashley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Ms. Ashley has a way of writing the most engaging heroines and the most alpha of heroes.

Kia Clementine married her high school sweetheart, with doubts in her heart, but hope for their future. The hope was dashed soon after and she spent the next years of her life in a living hell. That is until her husband is killed for some of his down and dirty ways.

This “sad” event allows Kia to make some much needed changes to her life. While in the process of Kia getting back to being Kia, she meets her famous crush Sampson Cooper.

Sampson Cooper is a former NFL player turned Army man and hero. Sam sees Kia and knows that he wants her, and with a little matchmaking from a stranger things are set in motion that will forever change their lives.

I loved these characters. Kia had a good family and made some awesome friends on her way to discovering herself again. Sam was badass, but he was also good and sweet and patient with Kia. Not many men would have the wherewithal to help a woman get over a tough situation and stick it out when something more comes over the horizon.

The only reason this didn’t get 5 stars from me is because of the way Kia’s family and friends basically allowed her to suffer without stepping in when she was going through what she went through with her husband. I get that it is hard to do in this type of situation, but I would have tried with every fiber of my being and risked the wrath of both parties, just to get my loved one out of it.

Anyway, as usual I laughed and sometimes wanted to cry throughout. That and steaminess of the sex scenes, when she went into detail, made this an all around kickass read.

I really hope that the next book comes soon and that it is Luci and Hap’s story.
