Ellie has had a thing for Kayne since she first met him, and unbeknownst to her, so has he. The feeling is definitely mutual.
What Ellie doesn’t know is what she is about to get into finally getting what she wants. It wasn’t planned, but circumstances lead to Kayne having to take drastic measures to keep Ellie safe. The thing is he starts to love it, more than he thought possible, but at the same time he is leery because he is becoming like the monster he is trying to protect her from.
This book is definitely a dark erotic romance. At times it was very hard to read, and it pulled at my emotions like crazy. I think the thing helped me to see this as romance was the dual pov. The fact that we see things from Kayne’s pov, makes the whole process easier to swallow. That being said, I would have still had mostly the same response to this book if it had only been 1st person from Ellie’s pov, I just would have been disliking Kayne the entire time, until the author redeemed him in my eyes. Thankfully, it didn’t happen that way.
Jett, I really liked him and hope that we, the readers, get to find out more about him throughout the rest of the series, or maybe he will get his own book down the line.
For once, I didn’t guess what was really motivating Kayne. I knew it was something because of course we got his pov, plus Jett continuously saying things are not always what they seem. It was refreshing to get that shock and wtf moment at the end of the book.
I am definitely going on to the next book in the series…
